Thank you. Thank you for all your support, guidance, help, encouragement and constant cheerleading. Thank you for always backing Bec and I and the whole of the Physique family to make a difference in your lives. And thank you for your love.

Last week we celebrated 10 years in business. That’s something. Statistically, we are an anomaly. Only 25% of all businesses in Australia make it to the 10-year mark. 

This hasn’t happened by chance or by luck. These are not something I give any belief in and are most definitely not the reason that we have defied the odds and have thrived. We have worked hard. Unbelievably hard. It takes a lot to own a small business, and we have given it. But our hard work is also not the reason for our success.  

The real reason is because of you. It’s all because of you. Our patients, our families, our friends, our referrers. Our community. 

The only reason Physique was created was to make a difference in our community. And we have. That is without a doubt. In the past 10 years, Physique has treated just over 10,000 different members of our community. This is remarkable, considering the population of the Mountain and its surrounds is around 10,000. We have carried out almost 90,000 treatment sessions. 90,000! And we have given just under $50,000 to our local clubs and events through sponsorships and donations. 

We have helped most of you recover from injury, heal from pain, and just generally kept you going. We have been through some very dark and challenging times together. Pain, in all its forms, is horrible and is a bully. We have confronted it and stood up to it and stared it down, side-by-side, for 10 years. 

We are obviously fulfilling our mission of making a difference. But we have got so much more in return.

When we started Physique, the world was in the midst of a Global Financial Crisis. “Don’t do it,” said all the experts: “You are bound to fail.” Bec was on maternity leave. She had no income. Both our kids were under 3, and we were so sleep deprived that our brains barely functioned. Our household didn’t have enough money. There were many weeks when we didn’t pay ourselves. 

And yet, there you were. Our encouragers, our cheerleaders, our support. Our community. You would bring me lunch because I skipped lunch to fit you in for a treatment, you would bake us cookies just to show that you loved us, you mowed our lawns, you prayed for us and with us, and you told us to keep going. You told us how much you needed us and how important what we were doing was.  

And so, we did keep going. We wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for you. We’ve had celebrations and births and marriages, and we have had deaths and funerals and sadness. But through it all, we have had love. 

At Physique, we love each other, we love our community, and we love every client of ours. And I guess, when we get right down to it, that’s the reason we are still here 10 years later. Love. Pure and simple. Incredible, really. 

And so, once again, just… thank you.
