Trust me, it’s money well spent; the difference between the store-bought mass-manufactured variety and these little pockets of Christmas joy is like a candle to the sun.
As a kid, Christmas was one of the best times of year. School had finished which meant I got to spend my summers adventuring with my brothers.
I was about seven before I realised the big fat bearded man we had our Christmas photo taken with down at the local Westfields shopping emporium was not the guy bringing me a wonderful array of thoughtful practical presents on Christmas day.
A memory related to food and Christmas was when I was about five years old. I’m in the front room of my grandmother’s house and I’m excited. It feels wonderful; then I feel a refreshing gust of ocean air as her house sits perched above a sheer cliff face in the Eastern Sydney suburb of Bronte.
