Ideally, people considering having a dog need to understand all the implications and responsibilities involved, starting with a suitable living area.

Some athletic dogs can jump or climb two metre fences, where others dig under barriers. Tethering a dog is legal in Queensland but if the animal was to become entangled the owner can be charged.

There is a push for the tethering of unsupervised dogs to be illegal. The RSPCA are often called out to dogs that have died or are close to death due to being chained up and entangled, not able to reach water or baked in the sun.

As well as being loving pets, dogs can also be used as a weapon, that is why they are used as a deterrent in security; they are more than alarm barkers. It is illegal to have or carry a weapon without a licence or permit, so why is it so easy to have a dog when there are human deaths, people being mauled, and bitten in increasing numbers?

Pets that are attacked by other dogs are also on the increase; it is estimated to cost collectively mill
