But have you ever thought about how to condition your brain? Maybe a little bit of sudoku? Play a game or two of chess?
Those mental aerobics are all well and good, but, if you really want to stretch your mind; to give it the equivalent of a 'full-body workout', the best thing to do is play a musical instrument.
Don't just take my word for it.

• It has been scientifically proven that that playing a musical instrument recruits almost every part of the brain, from regions that process vision, sound and movement, even to our memory.
• Recently, music has become a leading treatment for dementia patients, due to its emotional, behavioural and cognitive benefits.
• School-aged children can also benefit. Music has been linked to improved brain development through the formation of new neural connections. Additionally, studying music leads to improved coordination, maths and language skills, as well as attention and concentration.
