One of them basic teachings of the Christian faith is the resurrection. Both the resurrection of Jesus Christ and, following from that historical event, the resurrection of believers.

Imagine what life is like without any promise of anything beyond this life. I know people who think like this. They die and they go nowhere, they disappear, disintegrate, they go into nothingness. On the other hand, some people think there is an afterlife.

There seems to be a variety of ways to access that after life. Some people believe all you have to do is die and you enter into a blissful immortality. Some people think you have to work really hard to get your soul cleansed, your heart cleansed, your mind at peace, then maybe you might gain immortality.

We are right now faced with an unknown ‘shadow of death’. And though our knowledge is increasing every day, we still don’t know enough about it to control it, or stop it, or fix it, or kill it. It brings new surprises every day impacting on our lives.
