Column: Physio Talk - I AM NO LONGER THE CHAMPION
He says he has beaten me many times before, but I know this was the first time he has proper beaten me. What made it worse was that I even injured myself trying to win, that’s how hard I was going to not let him win. And what made it EVEN worse was the fact that I have only just stopped limping due to said injury.
“What happened?” I hear you ask.
Well, you know that game where you jump out of the swing at the park to see how far you can go? I was the family champion at that game. I no longer am. And I have a very sore ankle to back that fact up.
As I looked up from the ground near the swings holding my ankle, I couldn’t help but notice that my beautiful baby boy is growing up. Despite the fact that he had just given me a flogging and was laughing at how badly I did on my final attempt to snatch a victory I was proud of him. He even helped me limp back to the car where his mother and teenage sister were waiting for me (you can imagine the look that THEY both gave me). He is undeniably no longer a little boy
