For 65 years, his Duke of Edinburgh Award program inspired millions of young people worldwide to challenge themselves, set goals and take control of their lives and futures. He championed conservation and was the inaugural president of World Wildlife Fund for its first 21 years. A keen sportsman, aviator, artist and writer, Prince Philip also found time to support more than 800 charities in his lifetime.
His most significant accolades, however, came from those who knew him best – his family. Personal tributes flowed from his children and grandchildren, thanking him for his encouragement, guidance, example, kindness and enduring presence. We may not have Prince Philip’s platform or extremely long life, but we do have the same opportunity to leave a legacy in the lives of those who matter most to us.
