For many years, as soon as school broke up for the long summer break we would head off on holidays. Why then? The office started to slow down so I felt I could leave and also at the end of November and early December there is a lull in travel so often you can pick up a good deal. One year we stayed in France for Christmas which was fun and almost white, but we voted unanimously that we would always return in future for a good Aussie Christmas. And so we did – one year making it by the skin of our teeth flying in very early on Christmas morning to host our traditional lunch at home.
What do you do for Christmas? We all have funny quirky traditions. Ours is a three-day moveable feast at different houses but the same friends. Curry and carols kicks off the celebrations on Christmas Eve. We all rock up for full Christmas Day lunch with all the finery out, the kids playing cricket on the lawn and jumping in and out of the pool while the adults overindulge – prawns and turkey and ham, bread sauce and cranberry jel
