I wish I had more time to explore South Australia on this particular trip; there really are so many fascinating experiences in this diverse state. Adelaide is a lovely city with wide open spaces and green corridors within the city. It is a culturally rich city and I always enjoy a visit to the art gallery and the Adelaide Festival which is on annually at this time of year. The Adelaide central markets rival Melbourne’s Victoria markets for produce. For food lovers, there are many wonderful restaurants in and around the city … from gourmet to casual, the standard is high.
Venture out of Adelaide to the surrounding wine growing districts – the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, and the Adelaide Hills. Spend a few days in these districts to go wine tasting, to linger over a long lunch, to meander through historical villages, to chat to the locals and find out about the history of the settlement of the region.
