GOODBYE, GRAHAM!
GOODBYE, GRAHAM!
The Mountain will be the loser when Graham Vallance leaves shortly. Mountain Mates - along with many others - will greatly miss him. A stalwart of the Bowls Club in many ways, Graham has volunteered alongside other Bowls Club members at regular Mates’ Bowls nights and Buddy Bowls days, developing their skills and always there with a joke. With the help of his neighbours in Wongawallan Rd, he helped the Mates organise their Scarecrow display last year. When the Mates created their first garden at the Club, he built us the most impressive trellis anyone had ever seen. It needed twelve footy players to carry it from the carpark up to the green. Well, we might be exaggerating just a little bit, but it was huge.
Graham is pictured above with long-term Mountain Mates volunteers Barry Chatel and Linda Simister, who have been running this unique program of social lawn bowls and much more, for nearly five years, in partnership with the Bowls Club and Club Tamborine. Also pictured are this month’s happy prize-winners: Aimee, Emma, Sarah, Kris, Keegan and Meg, with Barry and Linda. Mountain Mates is a program of the Lions Club of Tamborine Mountain.
