ILLINBAH FLOOD EVENT
ILLINBAH FLOOD EVENT
A huge ‘thank you’ to all those Canungra community members and businesses who rallied around to assist the residents stranded at Illinbah and Flying Fox when the side track washed away.
Those stranded were amazing in that they constructed a flying fox to transport food and other supplies across the flooded creek. The contractors on-site assisted where they could and left a safe area for this to continue until the new sidetrack was completed. To the residents up those valleys, you were amazing and resilient through all this, which you had no control over and showed incredible community support for each other. Thank you all.

LET'S TALK SCENIC RIM
I encourage residents to sign up for this new community portal which will enable them to have their say on a number of issues and emerging projects from the comfort of their homes. Community feedback is vital for Council decision making, and your feedback is very important. After the initial registration process, you will be informed when any new projects come online for a consultation. Join on letstalk.scenicrim.qld.gov.au

ROAD REPAIRS
There has been significant damage to the road network with this recent flooding event, and crews have been working tirelessly to complete emergent works to make the roads safe and trafficable. In order to obtain funding from other levels of government, submissions need to be compiled and assessed by the QRA, which does take some time.

PODCAST BY CREATIVE RESPONDERS FOLLOWING BUSHFIRE RECOVERY
If you haven't had an opportunity to listen to the Creative Responders podcast entitled A Story of Renewal from the Beechmont Community, which was initiated by Jessica Brown from The Little Pocket following the 2019 Black Summer bushfires, it will make you proud. The podcast talks about the huge success of a community-led response to this devastating event in conjunction with local government partners and how an arts-based project has become the vehicle for social cohesion and empowerment amongst the affected community. Thank you to all who have been part of this project which has been highlighted by not only the Queensland Local Government Association but Australian Local Government Association in their newsletters. It can be streamed directly from Creative Responders on Spotify or via their website https://lnkd.in/gtqcfEEp
