LOOK AROUND...
LOOK AROUND...
Hello everyone and hopefully you have dried out somewhat from the latest round of offerings from the Rain Gods. I found most of Main Western Rd and Geissmann Drive at the bottom of Cedar Creek Falls, so thanks to you all for pointing out our loss of road surface yet again.
With much highlighted in the media of late surrounding domestic-related matters, it is time to put this out there because, first and foremost, the Mountain is not immune from this. Don’t ever forget that at one time, you may have loved the person you find yourself in conflict with. This is important - your emotions are going to need healing. Anger, abuse and violence towards the one you formerly loved will not solve this. Seek independent counselling. Social media, friends and family are not counsellors. They can be a support for you, but seek an independent counsellor for real help.

Remember the kids – take note that you are always going to be Mum and Dad in their eyes. Please don’t rob them of this because you are hurting; have a good look at yourself. Unless a child has been subject to real abuse at the hands of a parent, you should work towards a plan for both of you to be involved – you both will always have that connection.

Elder abuse, family abuse, carer abuse... emotional, physical, economic, control... It comes in many forms, and if you see the signs, then help should be sought.

Reporting Domestic Violence – If we don’t know, we can’t help: Remember, you can call 000 in an emergency. Otherwise, consider Policelink 131 444, North Tamborine Police 5545 3473 or CrimeStoppers 1800 333 000.

Help exists out there. If you are seeking advice, contact details exist:
- 1800 RESPECT DV Connect Mensline 1800 600 636
- DV Connect Womensline: 1800 811 811

WINTER CHILLS
The cold is coming. Remember to put an open fire out when finished so embers don’t spark an uncontrolled fire. Ensure your flue is clean and clear for internal combustion. Don’t put items on heaters: this can potentially cause a fire. Ensure smoke alarms are operational and working. These are just a few tips from us for ensuring a safe winter season for all. The local Auxiliary Firefighters will be proactive and are great for advice in this arena because they couldn’t make it into the QPS.

My staff and I will be out and about during this impending holiday period, so stay safe, lock up your valuables and take care of your health.

As always, report matters that might seem suspicious – your information is just a phone call away and may help save someone’s life or protect their property; you never know.
