My LNP colleagues and I have called for support payments, announced for the last lockdown, to be paid into the bank accounts of small and family businesses as a matter of urgency to ensure that those businesses have that cash to hand to keep things ticking over. At the time of writing this column, money won’t hit bank accounts for at least another week due to a slow application and assessment process – that’s four weeks since the start of the last lockdown.
