THE POWERHOUSE OF GREEN TEA
THE POWERHOUSE OF GREEN TEA
Hello wonderful readers, it’s Rebecca from Naturally COS. Congratulations – we’ve made it halfway through Summer. I’m definitely a fan of the warmer weather, but that doesn’t mean my skin is.
Back in my teens (so long ago in a land far away) I was introduced to Green Tea when I would eat Sushi. I had no idea what it was. The curiosity got me, and I asked a friend. “What’s the big deal with Green Tea?”. The question would become an eye-opener.
For the inside it’s known to prevent type 2 diabetes, prevent cardiovascular disease and is loaded with antioxidants. And if you’ve been following my columns, you might have seen that I talk a lot about them. Why? Because they’re a powerhouse that singlehandedly goes in to help fight free radicals. Internally and externally. Free radicals can cause cancer and a host of health issues. It’s also been known to improve brain function and reduce brain fog and premature ageing. Yes folks, the brain can age prematurely.
For the skin, I use Green Tea daily in my face mist. I include it in my day serum, and my after-sun spray. Why? Because it’s incredible for hydration, instantly calms red and inflamed skin, actively works to soothe and prevent sun damage. Oh yes, and did I mention the free radicals, which is incredible for reducing and treating acne and smoothing wrinkles?
Now, don’t get me wrong, Green Tea is not the magic bullet to solve all the problems. But it’s a great start. And here are some super simple ways to incorporate it into your everyday schedules :
·      A cup of Green Tea first thing in the morning (warm or iced)
·      Use a Face Mist with Green Tea as
an ingredient.
·      Opt for a lunchtime Green Tea Smoothie
·      Use brewed tea bags and pop them under your eyes at night.
I have a favourite smoothie which is absolute skin food. And great for the metabolism. Check out the recipe below:
·
  • 3 ice cubes
    ·      1 cup green tea
    ·      2 x 5.5-ounce containers (11 ounces) non-fat Greek Yoghurt
    ·      2 cups stemmed and chopped spinach (or kale)
    ·      1 medium Granny Smith apple—unpeeled, cored, and chopped.
    ·      1/2 cup 100% juice, (like 100% pomegranate juice) OR ¾ cup frozen pineapple tidbits
    ·      1/4 avocado, chopped.
    ·      1/4 cup frozen pineapple tidbits
    ·      1/2-inch fresh ginger, peeled (optional)

  • I’m a big fan of simplicity, so pop all ingredients in a blender, and drink. That’s it. Just enjoy the skin and gut goodness.
Have you had any results from reading my column? I’d love to hear about them so feel free to contact Scenic News with your progress.
And remember, spread kindness like it’s Jam on Toast.
