THINGS ARE PICKING UP!

Wandering around the Mountain this weekend I was thinking about the origins of Scarecrow Festivals. I thought there were bound to be gatherings of yesteryear stretching back for hundreds of years, if not millennia; pagan rituals came to mind. Actual scarecrows date back to ancient Egyptian times, however surprisingly the first recorded Scarecrow Festival was in 1964 in England.

These are still held, usually in May or June and the date varies depending upon the village. No doubt they are held in other parts of the world too, and they certainly bring an atmosphere of fun to the Mountain. Our local festival has been operating since 2008.

The travel industry has picked up and is now very busy, all of the pent-up demand post lockdown! If you are considering a trip for 2023, I would urge you to make plans soon. Whether you are planning a close to home trip or something further afield, you would be best to lock in at least the outline of your trip. Prices will just keep creeping up, so if you book and deposit now you will secure the early booking deals and most companies lock in the Australian dollar rate. We already have clients booking for 2024!

If you haven’t met Sienna in our office yet, do pop in and say hello. Sienna has been with us since April as a trainee travel consultant and is undertaking a 12-month travel course, along with on the job training. Sienna brings a delightful happy atmosphere to the office and I am sure you will enjoy dealing with her. This week we welcome Jodie to the team as our administration person. After 2 years of winging the admin side of the business, I welcome all the help that Jodie will bring to us. That brings us back up to pre-lockdown times and a busy office once again.
